Our Guest Editors for ‘The Ten’ and Why We Love Them

So many incredible women (and men) make up the voice that is the Darling community. Hundreds of wildly qualified experts, influencers and creatives have lent their passion to the print magazine, and recently I took a moment to marvel at those who have contributed to a series we launched just under two years ago called “The Ten.”

The Ten materialized after a long layover in Los Angeles while I was still working for Darling from my home office in New Zealand.

On my way to Iceland, I spent a day and night with our Founder and EIC, Sarah Dubbeldam, and we brainstormed the new things to come for our quarterly. As we chatted, we realized that though we both loved the strength of the mainstay inside of Darling Magazine — the essay — we felt like there was something missing; a kind of outreach to the “short form,” a series that could go deep, quickly.

This was the beginning of “The Ten,” and we haven’t looked back.

After a few issues went by, I quickly began reaching out to some of the incredible women who we had either already featured or just simply had been fans of, and the print Guest Editor series was born.

Here’s a look at who has contributed to the past five issues and what they covered:
