melanie loon bag

We’re always wondering what other women are carrying around inside of their purses (in a non-creepy way, of course) so we thought it would be fun for you to get to know the women behind Darling Magazine a little bit better by taking a look inside of our bags.

Here’s what Darling Executive Assistant, Melanie Loon, carries around most often:

This bag from FOUNT has served me for about six months now, but nicks and scratches throughout numerous plains, trains and automobiles (ok, not planes), have roughed in some beautiful character—subtly of course.

But the main draw, aside from something pretty and elegant design-wise, was that it would fit my gargantuan (for my frame) 15” MacBook Pro. Now that I’ve graduated to a new 13” model that’s lighter for all of my running around, my Petite Bellfield Tote still fits everything I need to get from point A to point B. The tote came with this cute tassel charm that’s perfect for my work keys and *drum roll* pepper spray. And of course, I’m never without notebooks, plural.

People ask me all the time if I have a thing for cacti because of my Sonix case, but it was a gift and I just love the case. Actually, I didn’t realize how much I liked it until I took it off and put another on, sooo I’m loyal to the cacti. I stuff train tickets in here too for easy access.

I think these sunglasses were $6 on sale from LOFT… I mean online shopping under $10? Sure, I’ll try mirrored frames haha. These work as a great pop of color amidst all the blue and gray I like to live in. Speaking of blue, I’ve had this jewel-toned Fossil (similar here) wallet for about three or four years now and it’s only now starting to show scuffing. It’s packed with coffee rewards cards… my high score is an embarrassing 12 different cards. For a couple shops, I just kept forgetting that I already had a stamp card!

But I won’t forget my Burt’s Bees. (I like getting the variety pack from Target, but the Original Beeswax is my real love.) I’m finicky about lip color products and tend to have too many rolling in my bag because none is my favorite, but Manna Kadar’s priming gloss stain in Lucky is my go-to now.

And last but not least, my family just celebrated Chinese New Year, so I have an envelope of lucky money to protect my checking account from my love for lattes. 😉

  1. Love your Petite Cocoa Bellfield! I have the Classic Peppercorn and it’s been my side kick for the past two years.
