poem4 (1)

Having sought the whole world over
And the whole year through
To find things beautiful, lovely and true
And having failed on occasion
I seek to start anew

To love you better and to love me too
To take the good and bad and broken
And to hold them all more loosely

To breathe in and out and remember
This too, shall pass, as achingly untrue
As that may seem come evening

To take time at its word
And to tend its fleeting breath
For those I miss who depend on it

So here I am with brave blue eyes
And a star-stretched heart
At the beginning of the year

To seek the whole world over
And my whole life through
To find things beautiful, lovely and true
And to offer them back
To you.
