a sunset
it’s cliché to attempt to wrap words around a sunset
so these are mine
a humble shrine of letters for the 40 minutes of wonder
at the end of a cloudy day
clouds that were once grey and silent
begin to sing opera
crescendo into a hallelujah chorus
sparrows tuning in
trees waving their limbs charismatically
wind whispers the melody
and I, so small in comparison,
am given the once in a lifetime show
every day if I want it
i must simply find the position
be on time
always waiting for the moment
the sun dances away to you
on the other side of the ocean
and rises, a mysterious relay of light
