Atwood cleverly tells the story of Iris Chase Griffen as she nears the end of her life, recounting the mysterious circumstances of her sister’s death and the strains and sacrifices of a sisterly bond.

With a thesis on “the Nordic theory of love” she examines the different strategies by which we look for our people’s best in government and family life.
