merino wall art

A Note From Our Guest Editor*, Geraldine: I was so excited to be invited to the preview of UK’s first ever Wool BnB, where everything from interiors to fashion were made of wool. The Bnb launch was part of the UK’s celebration of Wool Week. The interiors was curated by stylist Karina Garrick.

I thought it would be fun to give you a little tour of the house.

cozy house living room

This is the snug, a casual space for cosy evenings in. The room had a relaxing vibe with its low-level poufs and floor cushions on a pretty floral Liberty print carpet by Alternative Flooring.

plaited wall art

This merino wool plaited wall art was by Jacqueline Fink. It hung above the fireplace in the snug to create an eye-catching feature.

merino wall art

This vibrant wool carpet artwork over the fireplace is by Allistair Covell.

adjoining rooms

You can see more of Allistair’s work in the far wall over the sofa.

wool map

Just off the snug, was the study with its bright pink walls. I love how the pink contrasts against the blue walls at the doorway.

The handmade wool map on the study’s wall as you enter is by Jessica Wheeler. The map highlights the key wool nations. The Merino wool armchair is by Mourne Textiles, designed by Steuart Padwick.

sheep photos

On the wall adjacent to the wool map, is a gallery of sheep photography.

yellow pillow

Doesn’t this bright yellow chunky knit cushion and blanket by Melin Tregwynt make you feel like snuggling up on the sofa?

bed

Here’s a glimpse of the bed in the master bedroom. The bed is by Vispring and consist of a deep comfort wool filled mattress and mattress topper.

The duvet was also filled with wool and is from the Wool Room. Adorning the bed, were beautifully hand-knitted throws by Melanie Porter and Exmoor Horn Wool cushions.

I could easily while my time away lounging on this cosy window seating the bedroom.

makers room

This the Makers Room, the heart of creativity. It has been described as the place to escape from technology and connect with the peace and pleasure of working with wool. The woven fabric samples and brightly coloured yarn really pops out against that slate grey wall.

breakfast

Here’s a little breakfast vignette found in the kitchen at the basement of the house. The monochrome check patterned carpet are by Brintons.

colorful sheep

This was the view outdoors. Those brightly coloured sheep made me smile.

shepherds hut

Next to the garden is the Shepherd’s hut with its quirky wool-filled space created by specialist joiner Paulus Smith. This would be a perfect place to sit and relax, an escape away from the stresses of life.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the tour. This home will soon be listed on Airbnb, so if you are visiting London and fancy somewhere colourful, quirky and cool to stay in, then this may be the place for you.
