Round two with Create + Cultivate! They’re back sharing some great advice with us on how to put your best (business) self out there. They’ve asked a few of (our favorite) pros to figure out what really goes into making a brand impactful, long-lasting and genuine. We’re sharing their thoughts with you, below.

We’re ever curious about what makes a brand successful — and if there are certain tenets that will always remain important, especially in the face of shifting technology. So we asked three of our previous Create & Cultivate DTLA panelists to share.
With just a few weeks left until our ship date, we are so excited to release the cover for Darling Issue 16! This cover image radiates all that we’re hoping for in the coming months: Light, joy, warmth, energy and a healthy dose of the unexpected.
Issue 16 dives into something we might have a tendency to shy away from. Complexity. What does it look like to conquer some of those confusing, complicated or frustrating things in life? Can we find a sense of satisfaction apart from complete understanding? And is there beauty in doing so?
To explain why she’s so passionate about this issue, we’re sharing a word from our Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director, Sarah Dubbeldam. Watch her video below and find out how to get your hands on one of the first copies!
Nashville artist DANAE just released her newest single, and we can't stop playing it.
Think you need to carve out hours of your morning in order to get a good workout in? We’re happy to tell you that’s not the case. FabFitFun shares some of the easiest ways to stay healthy (and get out of bed…) before getting to that 9-5.
Exercising before work may sound like death, but there are quite a few benefits to it. Working out helps wake you up, gets you mentally prepared for the day, and jump starts your metabolism. You don’t have to set your alarm for the crack of dawn to work out, though. Even squeezing in quick, under 30-minute exercises can counteract the hours you spend sitting at your desk job.
Try these five easy exercises in the morning before you head off to work.
Nervous about networking? Completely understandable. Yet, thankfully Create + Cultivate is back sharing a few quick tips that even a master networker can brush up on. Read these before your next event and be sure to hit it out of the park.

If you’re looking for ways to brush up your networking skills, we’ve got you covered with the tips below to make sure you don’t lose out on any opportunities next month.
The beginning of another work week — we get it. But before you succumb to the stress and the busyness that this week may hold for you, we invite you to take a minute (well, 48 seconds) to pause and notice the sheer joy on one teen’s face. When her health prevented her from attending a Florence and the Machine concert with her best friend, the concert came to her at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House instead.
We were tearing up eight seconds in. This is what it’s all about, yeah?
Summer’s calling, and so is that chilled glass of rosé at 5 ‘o clock. No matter where you drink it, rosé always adds just a little hint of vacation to any evening, which can be a welcome addition to a season where everyone seems to be jetting off on a moment’s notice.
So, to help you better plan for your next post-workday escape, we asked Chief Wine Officer at Winc, Brian Smith, what rosés he’d recommend for under the non-vacation-budget price of $25. Below he shares his top five.
Adele wins. We know this. Her effortless voice, the way her songs take up camp in the teensiest crevices of our soul, and on top of it all, she keeps a down-to-earth vibe that isn’t afraid to have a little fun.
So, when we came across this ballet — another form of art where talent holds us completely captivated — set to the tune of her latest album, we knew we had to share. These dancers are incredibly skilled, seriously in sync … and now we’re off to practice a few pliés.

If you think of the pages on your blog or business website like the squares of a Monopoly board, your “About” page would be Boardwalk. So valuable is this piece of virtual real estate, people come barreling through your front door like it’s a never-ending open house whether you invited them in or not. They’re intrigued! They’re curious!
So, what have you planted on your “About” page?
As the weather warms up so does a desire to streamline our beauty and skincare routines. The simpler, the better, yes? Well, it can’t get any simpler OR better than this latest Chalkboard Mag advice. In our opinion, taking a cure from nature is always a safe bet.
Honey is so much more than just sugar, and the wide-reaching benefits of honey prove it. Everything about this golden goop boosts beauty, both internally and externally. We’re not ready to try the bee sting facial just yet (yes, that’s a real thing), but we’re more than ready to use honey – a potent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory – for these three simple beauty ideas to get our skin purified, plumped and glowing!
We have big news over here at Darling!
Our Editor in Chief, Sarah Dubbeldam, and her husband, Steve, are having a baby! They originally planned on letting the doctor reveal the gender at their 20-week appointment, but then they found these fun balloons by Knot & Bow to make it a surprise … and we’re sharing the video with you, below!
Could this be some good news for a change? According to this article on Huffington Post, the flight forecasting site Hopper says travelers this summer will see some of the lowest domestic flight prices in years, averaging just $207 a ticket by the fall. Itching to explore, but unsure as to whether you can really make it work?
Nothing fires us up more than watching other women conquer obstacles and chase their dreams. Which is why we’ve completely fallen in love with Carly Fleischmann, a 21-year-old journalist from Canada who, even though she has autism and is unable to speak using her mouth, communicates via keyboard and just scored a pretty big interview for her first time on camera.
Watch in full below and tell us you don’t agree: Can’t we please see more women like Carly on our screens? We absolutely love this.
As many of you probably are, too, we’re nuts about our nut milks over here. In an attempt to make of our favorite meals dairy-free, allergen-free and animal-free, almond milk has become a happy staple in our kitchens. But could a new milk — which, we admit, when we first heard about gave us pause — be … better?
Clearly, we’re wine fans around these parts. There’s just something about a time-honored tradition, being reliant on the rain, the sun and the earth, and condensing years of hard work into one simple glass — all to better eat with, no less — that we can seriously respect.
What else do we respect? When there’s a woman behind it all.
We recently hosted our first creative retreat in the quaint and beautiful town of Carmel by the Sea, California. The weekend was absolutely incredible and filled with life-changing moments, authentic conversation and delicious food and wine. A picturesque stone house nestled in the cliffs overlooking the ocean was where twelve vulnerable yet fearless ladies called home for four rejuvenating days.
It’s safe to say that the weekend will not soon be forgotten.
It seems like we can’t run a simple errand — like grocery shopping — without being bombarded with a dozen choices requiring a dozen decisions that ultimately will affect our health and wellbeing. Thankfully, the Chalkboard Mag is here to shed a little light on a topic swirling with misinformation (and avoidance). Read on below to get the ‘skinny’ on all those skinny lattes.
WE VISIT our favorite coffee shop and order the usual: coffee with almond milk, no sugar. Instead, we reach for two packets of calorie-free sugar substitute. Good choice, right? Think again. In terms of long-term health, it’s possible that this small-seeming choice in sweetener comes with side effects.
According to CNN, a new study conducted by researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital reveals something we may have always thought, but never knew conclusively. Now, we do.
A Note From The Editor: Happy Earth Day! If there was a better day to be reminded of all that this blue-green orb we live on offers us, we don’t know it. That’s why we wanted to share this article from FabFitFun as a timely boost of motivation to break out the dirt and reconnect with our hands — whether we have a green thumb or not.
Newsflash: Gardening isn’t just for your grandma! If you’re all about eating well and living a healthy lifestyle, then gardening is your new favorite pastime. All those fruits, vegetables, and herbs will look as gorgeous in your garden as they will on your dinner plate. As if Food & Wine doesn’t give us enough reason to feel hungry or inspired, they’ve just upped our spirits once again in a pretty big way. In a recently published article, they’ve revealed the surprising findings of studies conducted by researchers at UNC School of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.
What did they find?
It’s always surprising how the simplest experiences are some of the richest, isn’t it? Backyard. Bare feet. A glowing fire. Those are just a few of the quintessential signposts of summer, and as the weather warms up we’ve found ourselves eagerly anticipating those breezy nights outside without a care in the world.
We know we should live a little slower, a bit more off-the-grid; yet, its easy to think we need to do a whole lot more in order to make that happen. Nope. Below we’ve partnered with Target to sum up all that really you need (just four things!) for a truly great backyard hang.
At Darling we love when celebrities use their influence for good, saying things that resonate with who we are but that also challenge us to pursue the bigger and better, both in ourselves and in the world around us. Emma Watson is one such woman who we think totally nails the #DarlingMovement in how she carries herself and also in the way she speaks of women and of men.
So, in honor of her birthday tomorrow, here are ten of our favorite quotes that prove she has an open invite to the Darling office any time. HBD, Hermione.
Winter, summer, spring … When is wine not a compliment to whatever it is (in whatever season of life) that we’re celebrating?
For those of us who love to pop a bottle, but who also may be a little intimidated as to which bottles of wines are actually worth popping, never fear. We’ve recently discovered Barrel + Ink, a San Francisco-based wine company that pairs winemaker with designer to bring limited-run, uniquely-yet-beautifully labeled bottles right to your doorstep.
Because when in doubt, you always pick a bottle by its label. Right? Read on for more …

We want to share with you some of the best places to experience hiking in nature. There are too many uh-mazing places to choose from, not only in the world, but right here in the U.S. We have included only a handful of places to explore below, but encourage you to look into Arizona, Colorado, and Hawaii as places you may want to adventure, too. Happy trails to you!
In yet another reason we can’t wait for summer, Warner Bros. just released an extended trailer for the film adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ best-selling book Me Before You, which hits theaters on June 3rd. Sometimes, you just need a good cathartic cry and this film promises to deliver just that via a heartstring-tugging love story portrayed Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke and Hunger Games’ Sam Claflin.
Watch the extended trailer, below.
A Note From Our Guest Editor*, Estée: I’ve loved Darling magazine ever since the first issue I read, which was introduced to me by my friend Ingrid Nilsen. When I was asked by the team to write an article for the magazine, I was absolutely thrilled. The whole day for the photoshoot was magnificent, I had such a fun day and the whole shoot took me out of my comfort zone, something I’m very thankful for as I was so happy with how the pictures turned out. Make sure you check out the video included in the post!
This was hands down one of the best experiences of my entire life. It was as wonderful as it seems and the team was so great to work with. We listened to cool music, I got to wear clothes I never would have normally worn and I got to try being a model for today. Oh, and Darling got me a chicken parm sandwich for lunch which I’m still daydreaming about!
